Branding and a Platform for a Charity That Rescues Animals from War

Trident Rescue is a digital platform that helps rescue and rehome Ukrainian animals affected by the war.

The client is a volunteer who lived in Ukraine, helped local shelters, and started their own organisation in the UK to move animals to safety and find them new homes. We designed the whole thing from scratch — brand and platform — together with our partners at smplfy.

The reality of the brief

The idea was ambitious; the starting point was not tidy. Like most volunteer-run startups, the shelter was being launched while a thousand other things — paperwork, logistics — were still in motion. Instead of a clear spec, we got a few drafts in Google Docs and a request to "design something" that looks legit and that people can actually use. So we built the structure as we went.

Logo and identity

We explored a few directions, looking for something playful and distinct. After the first round we landed on a dog in a little house — a simple, readable symbol of a shelter. The client then wanted a bit more meaning: a heart, a cat, something patriotic. That led to the final mark — a dog in a vyshyvanka, in a blue-and-yellow palette.

The colours came out Ukrainian, but soft and warm. We kept away from loud brightness to hold a feeling of calm and care. The logo is detailed, yet we adapted it to work everywhere — from a sign on the building to a tag on a collar.

The platform

The site is both an information hub and a working platform. We led with big photos of the animals and kept navigation simple, adding small touches — paw prints, thin lines — that give a sense of movement and life. Every animal has a card with its story: where it came from, how old it is, and how you can help. The donation page is deliberately simple: a few fixed amounts and an option to support the shelter monthly.

The result

The site is already live in test mode — you can see it at tridentrescue.org. The project isn't fully launched yet; we're waiting on the legal side to close. But it's built and ready, and soon it should be doing the real work: helping more people rescue more animals.

Building something for a cause?

We design brands, websites and donation platforms for nonprofits and mission-driven projects — clear, warm and ready to launch, even when the brief starts as a few notes in a doc. If that's you, let's talk.
