Hotburo case study: Lystivochka, a no-sign-up holiday card generator. One week of design, one week of development, almost 3,000 cards after launch.
Lystivochka (Листівочка, «little postcard») is a Hotburo service for making holiday greetings. A few clicks and you have your own card, no sign-up needed. The idea came up at a planning session two weeks before Easter, so we had one week for design and one for development.
- Project type: internal Hotburo fun product
- Timeline: 1 week of design + 1 week of development
- Development: OmanaLabs
- Result: almost 3,000 cards created

The challenge
Easter is a warm holiday when we greet the people close to us. We wanted a tool anyone could use, so the interface had to be as clear as possible and funny at the same time.
Process: from a shared Figma to wireframes
We gathered every idea in one Figma file — from golden loaves to memes — and mapped out what goes on the card, what goes into the Easter basket and how to show it all in a collage.

That became a detailed document of how everything should work. The visual style was born along the way: we crafted wireframes and collected references as we went.

We made several design options and picked the best. The penguins that were also on the table didn’t make it — that would have been too much.

The aesthetics of kitsch
Classic holiday cards are bright, busy and a bit kitschy: glitter, bunnies, whimsical fonts. That is exactly what we wanted in the final result. We then split the Figma into the builder, components and quiz and handed it to developers. OmanaLabs helped with the build — for pizza.

What Lystivochka does
- Quick quiz — answer a few questions and get a surprise card.
- Builder — upload a photo, pick a background, add text and assemble your own card.
The result
We launched a fun product in two weeks, and almost 3,000 people created their cards. The media didn’t pick up the press release, but what matters is that we did it ourselves: fast, fun and honest.
