Hotburo case study: Public Arena Playbook rebrand — logo, palette, Mona Sans, doodles, merch, brand book, and design of the website and platform.
Public Arena Playbook is an open-source platform for civic communication at a time when artificial intelligence is becoming a key tool of social processes. It gives citizens, governments and NGOs tools for open, transparent interaction. Hotburo did a full rebrand, the website and the platform design.
- Client: Public Arena Playbook, an open-source platform
- What we did: logo, typefaces, palette, patterns, doodles and stickers, merch (posters, business cards, letterheads, T-shirts), brand book, social media, website and platform design
- Partner: The unicorn agency — illustrations and the book

Concept
Doodles and bright stickers became key parts of the style: they add energy to the brand and make it recognisable in any format. The style proved flexible enough to carry educational videos and the book design.
The book was designed by The unicorn agency: layout, illustrations and images of Greek statues. The statues symbolise the cradle of democracy, reimagined for today. We use these elements on the website, the platform and social media.
Logo
The logo is built on geometric typography in which the letters represent human silhouettes. That is the core idea of the project: people are at the heart of every social process. There are two versions:
- Compact — in a rectangle, the name on three lines; for letterheads, business cards and other small formats.
- Horizontal — the name on two lines; for websites, banners and presentations.

Colours
The palette combines soft and bright tones: light violet for softness, light blue for lightness and openness, coral red for energy, purple for dynamism and innovation. An additional yellow on the platform, website and in the book boosts contrast and accents.

Typography
Text is set in Mona Sans, a modern all-purpose grotesque with even proportions. It reads well on screens and in print.

The result
Public Arena Playbook got a consistent identity that links democratic values with modern civic tools — from the logo and merch to the website and the platform itself.
